GCB production design love!

I don't know about you guy's but I am loving the new ABC show GCB. Growing up in the south I can fully understand the true meaning of "GCB". I especially loved the production design for the show, elegant, yet modern interiors, mixed with down home southern accents, makes this one a must see. The production design was created by Denny Dugally and set decorator Bryan Venegas, they come from the same team that designed the sets for ABC's Brother's and Sister's, another show that I enjoyed watching, Sally Field's home in Pasadena was to die for.

Carlene's bedroom swoon - I love the dark eggplant walls & chairs, it really works well in a room that size.

Production Design Beginnings and a little Scalamandre inspiration

As I dig deeper into the subject of production design the more I know I want to learn and be involved in this design process. I have started gathering upon my interior design image collection and adding new and interesting pieces to keep for inspiration. One of my favorite textile companies is Scalamandre, I love the use of color and the pigments that they use in their wallpapers are beyond extraordinary, allowing for amazing colors to shine thru, which is hard to achieve with a paper. Here are a few samples of my favorite Scalemandre pieces!

Creating Color Boards

I am taking production design this semester, which is a whole other post on it's own, but I have started gathering a vast library of color boards, and I love creating them. They are so handy if you are looking to find a color palette for a room or using them on an interior design textile board as well. They are fun to create and really make you think about the colors you are using, how they work together, and the type of spaces you want to create around yourself. Break down what makes you happy the most in the space and use those elements all around the house!

Here is my latest color board - CANDY SHOP
